Boston University Center for Addictions Research and Services (BU/CARS) partnered with Casa Esperanza to document, collect, and report performance measures. The collaboration has also supported the Casa staff with training for interviews, follow-ups, and locating techniques; provided the evaluation and assessment; and implemented the research-based best practices that are the core of Casa’s treatment programs.
Casa’s close relationship with Boston University, along with Dr. Lund Lena Lundgren and Dr. Luz Marilo Lopez, has successfully published papers, referenced journals, and been presented at national APHA and SAMSA conferences. Casa has benefitted from continuous quality improvement provided by the partnership through:
- Improved targeted outreach.
- Improved access to care.
- Increased cross-training and care coordination.
- Increased cultural competence across the network.
- Increased retention.
- Reduced barriers to care.
