This year's fifth annual celebration of hope and recovery, Hope in Action 2010, will take place on Wednesday, May 19, 2010. This year, Casa Esperanza is presenting the Hope in Action Community Leadership award to Boston University’s Center for Addictions Research and Services for their invaluable contributions to the field of addictions treatment through pioneering research, evaluation, program development, and training; and their advocacy for close collaboration between researchers and practitioners to further the implementation of evidence-based treatment in community based programs.
BU-CARS has been a critical partner in Casa Esperanza’s efforts to expand and enhance our treatment services to better meet the needs of individuals, families, and communities struggling with homelessness, substance abuse, co-occurring mental health disorders, and HIV/AIDS. We look forward to acknowledging their important work at our May 19 event.
We are also honored to announce that our Keynote Speaker for Hope in Action 2010 will be Michael P. Botticelli, Assistant Commissioner for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and Director of the Bureau of Substance Abuse Services. Assistant Commissioner Botticelli has worked tirelessly to increase research efforts, champion public policies and facilitate collaboration amongst government agencies and community based providers, to improve the state’s capacity to meet the substance abuse prevention and treatment needs of the Commonwealth’s residents. We look forward to his address.
We hope you will join us on May 19 to support recovery at its roots and help us honor the Boston University Center for Addictions Research and Services!
