Where: 291-245 Eustis Street, Roxbury MA 02119
What: Casa Esperanza’s Annual Neighborhood Picnic brings local agencies, community members, and families together to learn about the strengths of the Roxbury Community. The day included great food, live music, fun activities for children and an opportunity for neighborhood residents and community leaders to talk about the impact of substance abuse on the health of the Latino community.
This year’s picnic featured a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and tours of Casa Esperanza’s new facility, the Familias Unidas Center—a community center for individuals and families in recovery.
The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was hosted by The Honorable Mayor Thomas M. Menino as well as Charlotte Golar Richie, Director of Department of Neighborhood Development and Esther Schlorholtz, Senior Vice President and CRA Officer for Boston Private Bank & Trust.
The ceremony focused on substance abuse trends in the community, highlighting the impact of drug abuse on the neighborhood and the importance of providing a continuum of community based services to support families in recovery.
For those of you who were not able to attend, please feel free to look at our pictures and don’t forget to join us for next year’s annual neighborhood picnic!
