SUMMARY: This therapist will focus primarily on conducting assessments and services for individuals with a mental health and substance abuse disorder. S/he will conduct one to one sessions, assessments, groups, and refer clients to necessary psychiatric care.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct and write comprehensive psychological assessments and related paperwork using the Structure Clinical Interview for DSM-IV TR. Develop an integrated substance abuse and mental health treatment plan for each client assigned. Conduct individual and group counseling for clients with co-occurring disorders using one of the following: (a) cognitive-behavioral therapy, (b) relational and psychodynamic therapy, and/or (c) motivational counseling. Works closely with the treatment team to coordinate and ensure that the client service plans are written, implemented, and that client needs are met. Function as a resource to the rest of the team on mental health related issues, and assist in the various components of this program. Provide crisis intervention counseling, with referrals to ongoing mental health services when needed. Facilitate self-help groups for clients and psycho-educational groups for family members. Facilitate Family Engagement sessions. Provide and facilitate referrals for clients and their family members. Assist the Intensive Case Manager in coordinating the family treatment meetings, as required. Participate in weekly clinical meetings to provide updates and assist in the decision making related to treatment planning and implementation. Write and submit all required documentation and reports for client case files, including supporting documentation. Assist in all reporting to meet funding requirements as requested by supervisors. Receive clinical and programmatic supervision weekly Other duties as required QUALIFICATIONS: 5+ years of experience in the mental health/substance abuse field. Bilingual Spanish / English, with intimate knowledge of the cultural, social, economic, health, and substance abuse factors. Strong crisis management/intervention skills Experience providing individual and group interventions to target population. Strong verbal/written communication Ability to work as both an effective team member and independently Must have Independence of Judgment and be competent to complete psychological assessments. Knowledge of cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing techniques preferred EDUCATION/TRAINING: MSW, MA, or M.Ed. in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field preferred.Independently licensed counselor, preferably an LMHC, LICSW or similar license preferred, or PhD. CPR certified
